Americorp position

The Queens Mediation Network, a division of Community Mediation Services, Inc. a multi-service agency in New York City and a leader in the ADR field that offers mediation services and conflict resolution training, seeks a Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator to help develop and implement strategies for volunteer recruitment, retention, evaluation and recognition; assist with training and continuing education; assist staff and mentors during the Apprenticeship program. The member will also conduct community needs assessments, develop and implement an outreach strategy, provide presentations and foster organizational partnerships.

This position was made possible through funding provided by National Association for Community Mediation's AmeriCorps program, whose mission is to build safe and peaceful communities by developing and promoting conflict resolution and mediation programs with youth, diverse volunteers, and the community. This hands-on position is ideal for a student or retiree. This position requires that the applicant complete at least 34 hours per week.

The position requires an enthusiastic, self-motivated, creative and resourceful individual who learns quickly. All applicants should possess an ability to work independently and as part of a team. All applicants should possess a commitment to learn about mediation and a willingness to engage in all phases of job description. This position requires a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • As a full-time member of the program, 1700 hours of service must be completed in a year .
  • Develop and sustain relationships with volunteer mediators, staff and mentors. .
  • Provide outreach, develop and sustain relationship with community- based organizations .
  • Provide outreach to increase awareness about QMN/CMS's services .
  • Maintain all required documentation, written reports and handle administrative tasks .
  • Ensure program's compliance .
  • Complete all program responsibilities required by QMN.
